Multiple Artists Printing (Indigenous and Native Geographies)

Map(ing) 2017 is a biennial collective community based project using the unique visual language of printmaking as a vehicle for visual communication and the sharing of culture, language and identity.

This seven day event will focus on the collaboration of five Native artists with graduate printmaking students from our nationally-ranked printmaking program. The collaborators will spend one week together working in the printmaking studios to explore and cultivate an environment of communication, diversity, mentoring and acknowledgment of place and people. During the event, the artists will be invited to create a limited edition of original prints with the assistance of our printmaking students. It is not necessary that the artists have prior printmaking experience. However they must have artistic vision and a willingness to work as a collaborator in an educational setting.

This week long event will host a public forum with the artists and collaborators and culminate with reception, exhibition, and silent auction at the Night Gallery in Tempe Marketplace.
Please stop in to the School of Art 4th floor printmaking studios to say hello, meet the artists, and see the printed works in progress. Then join us for the events at the Night Gallery!
